Frequently Asked Questions
Fibers & Materials
What fibers do you use?
Lars Andersson knitwear is made from three primary fibers: 120's superfine merino wool, cashmere, and organic cotton. Some seasonal pieces incorporate linen or cotton voile for warmer-season wearing. All fibers are selected for fineness, softness, and durability.
What does 120's superfine merino mean?
120's refers to the fineness grade of the merino fiber — a higher number indicates a finer, softer thread. At 120's, the merino is superfine: it wears close to the body without itch, is significantly lighter than standard wool, and regulates temperature naturally. Most of our core knitwear is made from this grade.
Are the hand-dyed pieces consistent in color?
Hand-dyeing is by nature variable. Each piece is dyed individually, so subtle differences in tone, gradation, and depth are part of the process rather than a defect. No two hand-dyed pieces are identical.
Ordering & Production
How does made-to-order work?
Every piece in the collection is made to order. When you place an order, production begins in our Kathmandu studio. The garment is knitted, hand-dyed where applicable, finished, and quality-checked before shipping. This process takes approximately 4–5 days, after which your order is dispatched.
Can I request a custom color or size?
Yes. If you would like a specific color not shown, or have a sizing question, contact us before placing your order. Because every piece is made to order, adjustments are possible when arranged in advance. Email us at info@larsandersson.net
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship worldwide. Shipping costs and estimated transit times are calculated at checkout. Orders over $300 dollars are "free shipping". Import duty is included in the prices, however other local taxes/ VAT's are to be covered by the client.
Care
How do I care for merino and cashmere knitwear?
Dry clean is recommended for all merino and cashmere pieces to maintain color fastness and fiber integrity. Some organic cotton pieces are machine washable — check the individual product page. For at-home care between dry cleans, hand washing in cool water with a wool-safe detergent and laying flat to dry is acceptable.
The Studio
Where is the knitwear made?
All knitwear is made in our own studio in Kathmandu, Nepal — opened in 2020 with our Nepali partner. We have worked with the same team of artisans since moving production to Kathmandu in 2013.
